Supporting local cleanups

We are more than a dumpster rental company, and from Hermantown and Proctor to Cloquet, Two Harbors and the small towns of Carlton and St. Louis counties, we are proud to support the communities we serve. Proper debris removal keeps streets, parks and job sites clean for everyone. When a town, a church, a neighborhood group or a civic group runs a cleanup day, a property improvement or a community project, the hard part is always the pile at the end. A roll-off is often exactly what they need: a 30 yard handles the general bulk waste from a community cleanup, and a 40 the temporary materials and debris from a large event.

One honest tip: some of it already has a home. In the Duluth area, the Resource Renew Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 2626 Courtland St takes paint, solvents, pesticides and cleaners free from Minnesota households, and Superior residents can use it at no cost too; leaves, grass and brush go to the Resource Renew Yard Waste Compost Site on Courtland St in season. Superior runs a spring clean-up for household items that do not fit in the cart, though it excludes building materials, tires, TVs, appliances and mattresses. Check those first. And keep major appliances, electronics, tires and car batteries out of a cleanup container — Minnesota and Wisconsin keep them out of the trash. If your project is bigger than that, call us.

Working with local groups

If your town, church or civic group is organizing a cleanup in Esko, Scanlon, Rice Lake, Moose Lake, Barnum, Floodwood, Cromwell, Silver Bay, Wrenshall or anywhere nearby and needs a container, call (218) 522-8487 or email info@truenorthwastebins.com and tell us what you are doing. We serve Duluth and Superior and the towns around them, including Hermantown, Proctor, Cloquet, Carlton and Two Harbors. Where a city wants a permit for a container in a street — in Duluth, the City Engineering obstruction permit, with its bond and insurance; in Superior, a Director of Public Works permit — we tell you what applies before the day.

We believe in hiring locally. A local company should mean local jobs.

Responsible disposal

Keeping the area clean also means sending what we haul to the right place. We work to keep recyclable and reusable materials out of the landfill whenever possible, sorting metals, wood and clean fill for proper diversion, and everything else goes to a facility permitted to take it. Minnesota keeps major appliances, tires, car batteries, vehicle fluids, yard waste, mercury items and rechargeable batteries out of the trash, Resource Renew adds TVs, computers and other electronics in the Duluth area, and Wisconsin has its own landfill bans for a Superior job — so those stay out of the box, and household chemicals, paint and gasoline go to a proper outlet, never the container.
