Roll-Off Dumpster Rental across Duluth, Superior and the Northland
Every job we do is a roll-off: a large, open-top rectangular container that a specialized truck rolls off onto your driveway, property or job site, that sits there while you fill it, and that goes back on the truck when you call. It is temporary — one delivery and one pickup — and then it is gone. This page is about the box itself — the sizes, the weight, the space it needs and what the price covers — for anyone who just wants to know what they are renting.
The yard is at 405 John Ave, Superior, WI 54880 — inside the City of Superior, Douglas County, on a local street about a third of a mile from the Blatnik Bridge (I-535/US-53) and about a mile and a quarter from the Bong Bridge (US-2) into Duluth. Approximate road miles from the yard: central Superior about 1, central Duluth about 5, Proctor about 9, Hermantown about 11, Rice Lake about 13, Esko about 17, Scanlon about 20, Carlton about 22, Cloquet and Wrenshall about 23, Two Harbors about 32, Barnum about 38, Cromwell about 43, Moose Lake about 44, Floodwood about 48 and Silver Bay about 60.

How a roll-off works
The truck backs in and sets the container on the spot you agreed. You load it over the open top, keeping everything level with or below the top rim — overfilled dumpsters cannot be legally transported. Spread the weight evenly. Call when it is done; the truck comes back, loads it and hauls it, secured the way Minnesota law requires so nothing drops, sifts, leaks or blows off (Minn. Stat. 169.81, subd. 5) — and on Superior streets the City code says the same (§ 106-6).
Space is the thing to check before you book: a flat, solid surface such as a driveway or paved area, about 60 feet of clear space for truck access, and at least 25 feet of clearance overhead, free of wires and branches. Parked cars, bins and equipment are the usual obstacles. If you will not be home, mark the spot. Any street placement needs the city's permission first — in Duluth, the City Engineering obstruction permit, and in Superior, a Director of Public Works permit.
What the flat rate includes
We offer flat-rate pricing that includes delivery, pickup, disposal and the rental period, so you know your cost upfront, along with the weight allowance for your size. Rentals around Duluth often range from about $350 to $750, depending on the dumpster size, the type and weight of the materials, the delivery location, the rental duration and any additional pickups — which is why we quote each job rather than publish a price list. Two things can add to it: going over the included weight, when we weigh the load and apply a clear overage fee, and keeping the container past the standard period, at a daily or weekly rate. We explain all of it on the first call. No hidden fees. Call (218) 522-8487 for your exact price.

Roll-off rental around Duluth — where the loads go
Duluth and the cities around it — Hermantown, Proctor, Rice Lake, Cloquet and others — are in the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District, now called Resource Renew, which regulates garbage and recycling there, and every load goes to a facility permitted to take that kind of waste. What stays out of the box matters as much. Minnesota keeps tires (Minn. Stat. 115A.904), major appliances (115A.9561), CRT TVs and monitors (115A.9565), car batteries (115A.915), vehicle fluids and filters (115A.916), yard waste (115A.931), mercury items (115A.932) and rechargeable batteries (115A.9157) out of the trash; Resource Renew adds TVs and monitors 7 inches or bigger, computers, printers, cell phones, asbestos and household hazardous waste in the Duluth area; and for a Superior job, Wisconsin keeps lead-acid batteries, major appliances, waste oil, yard waste, tires, electronics, cardboard and recyclable containers out of its landfills (Wis. Stat. 287.07). So we ask what is going in before we quote. On the road, every load is secured: Minnesota requires loads to be covered or secured so nothing drops or blows out (Minn. Stat. 169.81, subd. 5), and Wisconsin requires the same (Wis. Stat. 348.10(2)).
Answers
Roll-Off Dumpster Rental — your questions answered
What is the difference between a roll-off and a regular dumpster?
A regular dumpster is a permanent container emptied on a route. A roll-off is a temporary open-top container delivered for a project and hauled away when you are done. Roll-offs are what we do.
How full can I load it?
Keep all debris level with or below the top rim. Overfilled dumpsters cannot be legally transported, and keeping the weight evenly distributed helps ensure a safe pickup. If you need more room, call and we can swap it for an empty one.
Do I need to be home for delivery?
No. As long as we know where to place the dumpster and the area is clear of vehicles and obstacles, the driver places it where you asked. Same for pickup.
How quickly can you deliver?
Same-day or next-day, depending on scheduling availability. Call early — if you call before midday, we will do everything possible to deliver the same day.
Can I not just haul it to the dump myself?
You can, for a few loads — but secure the load, because Minnesota requires loads to be covered or secured so nothing drops or blows out (Minn. Stat. 169.81, subd. 5). Duluth-area residents and small commercial customers can take mixed construction and demolition loads to Resource Renew's Materials Recovery Center at 4587 Ridgeview Rd; it does not take household garbage, hazardous waste or yard waste. In Superior, the City landfill does not take demolition, remodeling or building materials. A roll-off is the option when the job is more than a couple of trips, or you would rather not make them.
What does a roll-off cost in Duluth?
Rentals often range from about $350 to $750 depending on the project, with no hidden fees. You get a flat rate up front whenever possible that includes delivery, pickup, disposal, the rental period and the included weight for the size you pick — about 1 to 2 tons on a 10 yard up to 5 to 6 on a 40. Call (218) 522-8487 with the address and what is going in and you will have a number before you hang up.
