Roll-off dumpster rental in Esko

Approx. 17 road miles from the yard, around 23 minutes.

Esko is approx. 17 road miles west-southwest of the yard, around 23 minutes — same-day or next-day when availability allows; call early for the best chance of same-day. Esko is an unincorporated community, not a city: a Census-designated place of 2,082 at the 2020 Census inside Thomson Township (5,465), Carlton County.

Thomson Township is named in the state law that set up the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (Minn. Stat. § 458D.02), so the District's rules reach Esko. We found no township garbage or hauler rule of its own. Remodels, roofs and property clean-outs go out in roll-offs.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Esko

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • Thomson Township — Esko is a Census-designated place inside the township, so township rules apply.
  • Recycling shed — the Carlton County staffed recycling shed is at 25 E Harney Rd; the township says large cardboard goes directly to the Carlton County Transfer Station.
  • Carlton County Transfer Station — 1950 Highway 210, Carlton; it takes construction or demolition debris and brush, with demolition waste at half price on Wednesdays.
  • Snow plowing — the township's Snow Removal Policy (2014) starts plowing at 3 inches.
  • Interstate 35 — mentioned in the township's own overview.

What comes out of Esko properties

Garage clean-outs and flooring in 15s, yard and storm clean-ups in 15s and 20s, roofing in 10s and 20s, remodels and landscaping in 20s, estate clean-outs in 30s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete and dirt — heavy material usually only goes in the smaller boxes. Minnesota keeps these out of the trash and out of landfills: tires (Minn. Stat. 115A.904); major appliances such as fridges, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters and air conditioners (115A.9561); TVs and monitors with picture tubes (115A.9565); lead-acid car batteries (115A.915); motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze and other vehicle fluids (115A.916); yard waste mixed with trash (115A.931); mercury items such as thermostats and fluorescent tubes (115A.932); and rechargeable batteries and devices with built-in rechargeables (115A.9157). Tell us if a load is yard waste, and before you load an appliance. No paint, solvents, oils, hazardous chemicals, gas cylinders, propane tanks, batteries, medical waste or asbestos. Carlton County households can use the County's seasonal household hazardous waste facility at the transfer station, and the Resource Renew facility in Duluth takes household hazardous waste from Minnesota households.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Esko

Who may haul — the rule that matters: The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District, now called Resource Renew, says no one may collect or transport mixed municipal solid waste, rubbish or recyclable materials for profit within the District without a District licence (WLSSD Solid Waste Ordinance § 6.1), and its hauler application lists roll-off containers and construction/demolition waste among the services. Thomson Township is inside the District (Minn. Stat. § 458D.02). We found no Thomson Township garbage or hauler rule. We're licensed and insured.

Placement: we found no township right-of-way or street permit, so this page claims none either way. A driveway is the simple spot — give us clear placement instructions and you don't need to be home for the drop-off. Ask Thomson Township before using a road.

Winter: the township's parking ordinance bars parking any motor vehicle on the roads, streets, alleys, boulevards, sidewalks or public grounds from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m., November 1 to March 31, and violators are removed and impounded (Sec. 4). It is written for vehicles, but plows start at 3 inches of snow — driveway first.

State highways: MnDOT has no permit for setting a private container on trunk-highway right-of-way, and Minnesota law makes it a misdemeanor to obstruct a highway or place any object within its limits (Minn. Stat. 160.2715). Beside a state highway the container goes on private property, never in the right-of-way. We check the exact address.

Covered loads: Minnesota bars driving a load that can drop, sift, leak or blow out (Minn. Stat. 169.81, subd. 5). Keep debris level with the top rim — overfilled containers can't be legally transported.

Remodel or tear-down: Minnesota requires appliances, tires, mercury items, batteries, oils, electronics and household hazardous waste to be taken out before renovation or demolition starts (Minn. R. 7035.0805). Demolition debris means concrete, brick, asphalt, untreated wood, masonry, glass and similar building parts — never asbestos (Minn. R. 7035.0300, subp. 30). Asbestos work needs an MDH-licensed contractor, who notifies the Minnesota Department of Health at least 5 calendar days ahead (Minn. Stat. 326.74); a homeowner working in their own single-family home is exempt from the licence (326.72). For many demolitions — commercial buildings and larger residential buildings — the MPCA must be notified 10 working days ahead. Asbestos never goes in our containers; tell us if you find any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Esko

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the address, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

You get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, when scheduling allows. You do not need to be home.

  4. Step 4: Load it at your pace

Keep it level with or below the top rim and keep the problem items out — paint and solvents, oil and fuel, chemicals, tires, batteries, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, TVs and computers, and fridges, washers, stoves and other major appliances. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We haul it and dispose of it right

The load is secured for the road and goes to a facility permitted to take it, with metal, concrete and yard debris diverted from landfills whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Local answers

Dumpster rental in Esko — common questions

Is Esko same-day?

Same-day or next-day when availability allows — it is about 23 minutes from the yard. Call (218) 522-8487 early for the best chance.

Is Esko a city?

No. Esko is a Census-designated place in Thomson Township, Carlton County, so township rules apply. It had 2,082 people at the 2020 Census.

Is Esko in the WLSSD district?

Yes. Thomson Township is named in the law that set up the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (Minn. Stat. 458D.02), and the District licenses haulers (WLSSD Ord. Sec. 6.1).

Can a dumpster sit on a township road in winter?

Township parking rules bar vehicles on roads and boulevards from 4 to 7 a.m., November 1 to March 31. We found no road permit process, so the driveway is the spot; ask the township first about a road.
